Neighborhood groups and associations have used these funds for such things as sidewalk enhancement, lighting upgrades, signage, fence replacement, parking lot enhancements, community block parties, and even neighborhood birdhouses.
Funding Information
The program provides an incentive for neighborhood organizations to improve their communities by awarding dollar-for-dollar (up to 50%) matching grants of up to $5,000.
Grant Period
The performance period is July 1 2026 to May 31 2027.
Eligible Expenses
Repairs/maintenance would be considered for:
- Private sidewalks
- Fences
- Light fixtures
- Hazardous tree removals
- Private roadway repair/paving (potholes)
- Drainage/erosion issues
- Parking lot striping.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to all homeowner associations, condominium associations, citizen associations or any group that represents a majority of residents in any given neigh-borhood, the dollar-for dollar matching grant:
- Provides grants for new projects such as lighting, installation of landscaping, tot lots, entrance fea-tures and other physical improvements, or neigh-borhood events
- Applications are accepted annually
Ineligibility
- Annuals (plants/flowers/shrubs)
- Watering of plants
- Tree removal, pruning, or stump grinding (unless part of an approved, one-time project to address a hazard under the Equity Enhancement subpro-gram)
- Routine maintenance and/or repair work (unless part of an approved onetime project under the Equity Enhancement subprogram)
- Events, activities, programs, and/or services usu-ally included in the organization’s regular budget
- Operating expenses, including salaries and sti-pends.
