The Foundation also invests in emerging research or a new approach that demonstrates potential for the diagnosis or treatment of cancer.
The Foundation provides cancer research grants that:
- Demonstrate and advance collaboration.
- Invest in new and promising research and advance the next generation of tenacious and entrepreneurial leaders.
- Focus on long-term enduring solutions and finding a cure for cancer.
- Identify and address gaps in funding for research that is traditionally underfunded, such as children’s cancer research and rare forms of cancer.
- Make promising efforts to propel to the next stage of funding.
Types of Support
The following are eligible for funding; projects that demonstrate collaboration and data sharing across a range of institutions and/or disciplines are highly encouraged:
- Research that builds a greater understanding of cancer development and growth.
- Research on the cusp of the “next stage.” This includes early research or late-stage research ready for clinical trial.
- Research actively seeking to reduce disparities by targeting improved treatment and outcomes for marginalized communities.
- Research that identifies and dismantles barriers for underserved communities in order to increase the diversity of clinical trial participants, population cohorts and clinical samples.
- Research focused on rare forms of cancer or cancer research that is traditionally under-resourced and has seen little development in a decade or more.
Funding Information
- Funding range: Up to $500,000 per year.
- Maximum funding: $1.5 million over a three-year period.
Eligibility Criteria
The Foundation awards grants only to tax-exempt organizations described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or to public institutions providing services and research aligned with their mission and guidelines. They primarily serve organizations in the states of Oregon and Washington.
