The Colorado Energy Office (CEO) provide grants for electric vehicle charging stations. The CEO administers grant funding for charging stations for entities located statewide.
The purpose of the application is to provide the evaluation team with an understanding of the applicant’s level of planning and commitment to electric vehicle charging stations.
Program Goals
The objectives of the Charge Ahead Colorado program are to:
- Promote the installation of electric vehicle charging stations throughout Colorado.
- Increase the number of electric vehicles purchased in Colorado.
- Reduce harmful air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions associated with gasoline anddiesel vehicles.
- Gather data on charging stations to better understand their usage.
- Support implementation of the Colorado Electric Vehicle Plan.
Funding Information
RAQC and CEO have funding to pay up to 80% of the cost of a charging station, up to the total amounts listed in the table below:
- Charging Station Type/Maximum Funding
- Fleet Only Station $6,000
- Level II, Multi‐Port Station $9,000
- Level III, Multiple Connection Standard Station $35,000
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants include public, private and non‐profit organizations. Eligible applicants include local governments, school districts, state/federal agencies, non‐profit organizations, apartment/condominium complexes, and businesses that own multi‐vehicle parking facilities that provide fleet, public, employee or guest/visitor parking. No priority is given based on organization type.
Eligible Costs
Eligible costs are limited to the following:
- Charging station and related equipment (Level I charging stations are not an eligible project)
- Construction materials
- Permits
- Construction labor costs associated with the equipment purchase and installation of Level II or DCFC charging units
- Utility and electric upgrades such as new transformers, or upgrades to transformers, breaker boxes, and electrical panels
- Signage
- Networking/subscription fees and activation fees
