Details:

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is a center of learning, innovation and leadership that shapes and advances effective correctional practice and public policy. They provide training and technical assistance at no cost to the field of corrections at the federal, state and local levels on a variety of topics. NIC honors the perspectives and expertise of practitioners, and they continue to seek to inform the work through collaborative relationships with correctional agencies.

The goals of this cooperative agreement are to:

  • capture, create and produce professional quality, high resolution videos for inclusion in elements of currently on-going projects,
  • creation of a variety of short video clips, and
  • filmed interviews conducted during at least two national conferences, in NIC learning products, the NIC website, print materials and in NIC’s Learning Management System.

Objectives

  • Conduct an initial meeting (either virtual or in-person) with the NIC project manager and the correctional program specialists involved in each topic segment within 30 days of award to clarify goals and objectives, discuss and develop a timeline of activities, clarify roles, discuss the overview of the project, and develop the project concept plan that will be used to guide the project. This meeting could potentially be conducted in-person if the location of the awardee is convenient to the NIC office in Washington, DC.
  • Provide a draft concept plan for accomplishing the work within 14 business days of the initial meeting.
  • Identify topic teams in collaboration with NIC staff and determine appropriate approaches through diversified scenarios for the project segments.
  • Provide periodic reports as listed and engage in all planning and production activities.
  • Provide deliverables listed below that are professional in appearance, high resolution, meet current federal 508 compliance requirements, and which meet the formal approval of NIC project manager.

Eligibility Criteria

NIC invites applications from nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations), for-profit organizations (including tribal for-profit organizations), and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education). Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services. Foreign governments, international organizations, and non-governmental international organizations/institutions are not eligible to apply. Proof of 501(c) (3) status as determined by the Internal Revenue Service or an authorizing tribal resolution is required.NIC welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the applicant and the others must be proposed as subrecipients. The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire program. Only one (1) application will be accepted from a submitting organization.
