A Place to Perform is an initiative of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta created after the theatre space of the 14th Street Playhouse became unavailable to a wide range of Atlanta’s nonprofit performing arts organizations. Historically, A Place to Perform has provided grants to nonprofit arts organizations to assist them financially in gaining access to performance venues so they can produce performing arts experiences for the public throughout the metro Atlanta region. In addition, the Foundation recognizes the long-lasting impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic on the Arts community, particularly in-person performances.

Funding Information

  • Total funding available: up to $45,000
  • Grant awards will be one-time of up to $5,000

Priority Groups

Priority will be given to organizations that are led by or serving Black, Indigenous and People Color (BIPOC), which is defined as organizations that meet at least three of the following four criteria:

  • Organizational leader is BIPOC
  • Majority of board members are BIPOC
  • Majority of clients served are BIPOC
  • Staffing of the organization or the program/project of which funds are requested are BIPOC

Eligibility Criteria

Nonprofits that meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for a grant from A Place to Perform:

  • Be located and providing services within the following Georgia counties: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Rockdale
  • Be classified by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service under Section 501(c)(3) of the I.R.S. code as a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization, donations to which are deductible as charitable contributions under Section 170 (c)(2) and the I.R.S. determination must be current
  • Be registered with the Georgia Secretary of State as a nonprofit
  • Have a minimum two-year operating history after the date of receipt of its 501(c)(3) classification or after its registration with the Georgia Secretary of State as a nonprofit
  • Have a primary focus on presenting, producing or providing performing arts programming for the public
  • Pay artists and performers associated with artistic and cultural programming.
