Green Our Planet’s GardenConnect STEM Program Grant

Dated: August 23, 2022

Green Our Planet’s GardenConnect Program helps schools across the United States create a comprehensive school garden program that will connect students to nature and serve as an outdoor laboratory for all kinds of exciting studies.

Donor Name: Green Our Planet

State: All States

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): Ongoing

Grant Size: $3,500

Details:

Outdoor gardens are one of the best tools available for teaching students experiential STEM, nutrition, and conservation and are a great resource to get students engaged. By assigning an experienced Green Our Planet coordinator to your school for monthly meetings, they are able to share nearly a decade of experience in how to build and maintain a garden, utilize curricula, create student-run farmers markets, and how to form the next generation of scientists, chefs, and entrepreneurs. In short, they can help you maximize all of the many benefits that can come from establishing a great school garden program.

Our GardenConnect Services Include:

  • Assisting your school to figure out how to build or purchase an outdoor garden system if one does not already exist.
  • Assigning a Green Our Planet Coordinator to your school who will help you launch your School Garden STEM Program and who will meet with your garden team monthly for one school year via Zoom, Google Hangout, or other online services.
  • Providing a PreK-5 STEAM curriculum adapted for use in the Outdoor Garden Classroom to Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Teaching your school how to organize a student farmers market.
  • Advising your school on the best garden grants to apply for and how to find local sponsorships for your program.
  • Assisting your school to expand your garden into an Outdoor Garden Classroom, complete with a white board, student seating, etc. (via educational videos, schematics, etc.)
  • Access to Green Our Planet’s Virtual Academy of STEM video lessons and special tutorial videos.
  • Providing you with a copy of Green Our Planet’s info-packed Garden Manual plus their Garden Teacher Resource Manual.
  • In general, teach your school how to create and then extract the maximum benefit from your School Garden STEM Program while helping to make the program sustainable.

The full cost of this program is $3,500.  If awarded a grant, Green Our Planet will cover $2,500 of the program cost and your school will be responsible for covering the additional $1,000 needed to fully fund the program.
