Allowable uses include (all in the early care range of birth to age five):
- Mental health services and supports
- Social, emotional, and physical health
- Training and development to operate and address the needs of young children birth to age five more effectively
- Other activities necessary to maintain the services in early care and education prioritizing the needs of underserved groups
Funding Information
Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation anticipates awarding approximately $200,000 in grants with individual requests up to $20,000. This funding pool will support projects that can be completed in a one-year period.
Eligibility Criteria
- Proposals must be submitted by an independent 501(c)(3) organization, a unit/agency of government or a public institution.
- Projects are encouraged to support underserved & diverse populations
- Projects must serve our 20-county region
- Projects must be completed within one year of the grant award date
- If you have a current grant, include a status update of your project in order to qualify for this one
Exclusions
Ineligible organizations or activities include:
- Individuals, businesses, or other for-profit organizations
- Expenses not directly related to the project/program
- Capital funding, real estate investments, fixed assets, equipment, capital campaigns or endowments
- Project expenses incurred prior to application
- Projects/programs in progress prior to application or completed
- Funds for re-granting or to establish loan pools
- Research projects or school-related internships
- Strategic plans or feasibility studies
