Tourism Grant Program for Klamath County (Oregon)

Dated: September 16, 2022

The Klamath County is accepting applications for its Tourism Grant Program to assist local event planners and tourism-focused businesses in promoting tourism in Klamath County.

Donor Name: Klamath County

State: Oregon

County: Klamath County (OR)

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 09/30/2022

Size of the Grant: up to $25,000

Details:

Tourism grants are for regional promotion of events and activities that increase tourism within Klamath County. The Board of Commissioners look for projects that offer special or unique opportunities. Projects should identify a target market and offer a specific strategy for reaching this market. Infrastructure projects are strongly encouraged for this cycle as well as events/projects occurring during the shoulder season-October to May. Funding for the Tourism Grant Program comes from the countywide transient room tax that is administered by the Klamath County Tax Collector.

Grant applications are reviewed and recommendations made by a seven-member review panel appointed by the Board of Commissioners. The review panel recommends applications and funding levels to the Board of Commissioners who will then make the final decision for awarding funds.

The mission of Klamath County is: “Serving their Citizens through Stewardship.” Klamath County has established a program to grant awards “to eligible applicants for projects that contribute to the development and improvement of communities throughout the county by means of the enhancement, expansion and promotion of the visitor industry.”

Program Key Initiatives

Applicants will need to identify in your application which of Travel Oregon’s following key initiatives your project aligns with. (Projects that do not align with at least one of the initiatives below will be ineligible for funding.)

  • Maximize the economic return on public and private investments in Oregon
  • Drive year-round destination-oriented travel from Oregon’s key domestic and international markets by aligning and optimizing local opportunities
  • Develop destination-based products that are in concert with Oregon’s natural environment, support the stewardship of the state’s resources and its rich history
  • Provide strategic industry professional development and training opportunities

Funding Information

Grant program applicants may apply for grants of up to $25,000 ($50,000 if infrastructure) per project and may apply for no more than two projects in the same cycle (two cycles will be opened during the year). Each project requires its own application. Applications will be accepted and awarded up to twice per year. Applicants must demonstrate at least a 30% cash match for any grant request of $3,000 or more. Grant applications of less than $3,000 do not require a cash match.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible applicants include those listed below that are doing business in Oregon and can demonstrate direct work in support of improving the economic impacts of Oregon’s travel and tourism industry:
    • Local government
    • Port districts
    • Federally recognized Tribes
    • Non-profit entities registered with the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office
