Details:

Arts Huntsville, as the designated local arts agency for the City of Huntsville, AL, was one of 66 local agencies nationwide selected to receive an American Rescue Plan grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to distribute grants and/or artist awards in their communities.

Program Goal

These funds are intended to help support jobs in the arts sector and assist in the operational impacts of Covid 19. Funds may be used to support:

  • Salary support, full or partial, for one or more staff positions
  • Fees/stipends for artists and/or contractual personnel to support services provided in support of the organization’s day-to-day artistic or administrative operations
  • Operating facility costs such as mortgage principal, rent, utilities, etc. (not capital expenses)
  • Marketing and promotion expenses targeting broad-based community engagement or specific outreach to provide greater equity and access to underserved communities

Funding Information

  • Eligible applicants may apply here for $5,000 for the fiscal year 2023.
  • If awarded, funding may be used for projects from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

Organizations must meet the following requirements to be eligible for project support:

  • Nonprofit arts and cultural (i.e., visual art, music, dance, theater or literary) organization with current 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
  • Primary mission of year-round arts and cultural (i.e., visual art, music, dance, theater or literary) programming.
  • Must be in existence as a nonprofit for three years with evidence of public programming dating from January 2020 or earlier.
  • Organizational business operations and primary programming located within the City of Huntsville or the downtown core (defined for grant purposes as the area bordered by California Street, Bob Wallace Ave., Triana Blvd. and I565/Pratt Avenue).
  • The SAM registration must be current at the time a grant is made and throughout the life of the award. See Changes Coming for Federal Organizational Applicants and Awardees for important information. Registration with Grants.gov and SAM is always free.
  • Fiscal sponsorships and fiscal agents are not eligible.
