St. Mary’s County Arts Council has announced a Call for Artists! to create an Art Park on a parcel of land known as The Lexington Manor Passive Park.

Details:
The Park is located in Lexington Park across from the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The Park will include public art such as murals, sculpture, outdoor tables and stationary seating. The long term plan for the park will include a stage, a community garden, exercise/play stations and a new pavilion. A new restroom has recently been completed and the park currently includes a disk golf course as well as the Newtowne Theater.
This design competition will include the review of application materials with the intent of identifying 5 artists and their designs most favored by the selection panel. Each of the 5 artists selected will paint one bench, and will be awarded $800 upon the completion of their project.
Funding Information
- Artists will be paid $800 upon completion of the project.
- This artwork budget will reflect all costs associated with the artist portion of the project, including: design, application, travel/transportation, paint and materials.
Eligibility Criteria
- It is preferred that applying artists have successfully completed other art projects of a similar scale.
- Proven ability to meet requirements and deadlines.
- Priority will be given to local St Mary’s County artists but any Maryland artist can apply.
