Request for Proposals: Coordination of Statewide Suicide Prevention Activities for Suicide Prevention Center of New York (SPCNY)

Dated: November 24, 2022

The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is issuing this Request for Proposal (RFP) to invite eligible applicants to submit proposals for the Coordination of Regional Suicide Prevention Activities for OMH’s Suicide Prevention Center of New York (SPCNY).

Donor Name: New York Office of Mental Health

State: New York

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 01/10/2023

Details:

SPCNY’s mandate is to increase coordination and alignment of all OMH-funded suicide prevention programming with the goal of reducing suicide attempts and deaths among New Yorkers. New York State’s Suicide Prevention Plan – 1,700 Too Many calls for significant investments aimed at integrating best practices of suicide prevention into health and behavioral health systems, coordinated suicide prevention activities in community settings, and the use of surveillance systems and data to inform prevention activities and measure impact.

OMH’s SPCNY offers webinars, consultations, technical assistance, and best practice tools to suicide prevention coalitions, schools, healthcare organizations, and others to advance and increase their local capacity to deliver evidence-based strategies for suicide prevention. SPCNY provides gatekeeper trainings, school-based suicide prevention activities and trainings, and community postventions after a death by suicide. Additionally, SPCNY supports several initiatives that raise awareness and support statewide stakeholders working to prevent suicide across the state.

OMH’S SPCNY is seeking proposals from organizations that can administratively support the broad array of SPCNY’s activities outlined above by assisting in the coordination of initiatives and disbursement of contract funds in the areas of:

  • Training coordination and management
  • Public Awareness and Education, and
  • Suicide Prevention Implementation support.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants are not-for-profit agencies with 501(c)(3) incorporation, located and doing business in New York State, that have experience providing mental health services to persons with serious mental illness.
