Healthy urban & community forests are essential to the economic, environmental, physical and mental well-being of all Texans. Proposals that complement existing regional and national initiatives addressing critical issues affecting community forests in Texas, such as climate adaptation and equitable distribution of community forests and trees are encouraged.
Grant Categories
- Climate Resiliency – $50,000
- Texas consistently experiences extreme weather events and is on the front end of expected warmer, dryer weather pattern change. This category will provide support to increase community forest climate resiliency and quality of life comfort.
- Human Health Equity and Accessibility – $50,000
- All cities and all neighborhoods do not evolve equally and while much effort has gone into rectifying this, much is yet to be done. This category will provide support to correct the balance in environmentally disadvantaged communities.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible entities for community forestry grants must be public or non-profit. Examples include, but are not limited to, State and local governmental agencies, Public education institutions, NGO or non-profit (501c3), Public utility districts (PUD, MUD, etc.). Individuals, businesses and federal agencies are not eligible.
