The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program provides grants to cities and counties to develop viable urban communities through the provision of decent housing, a suitable living environment and by expanding economic opportunities for low and moderate income persons.

  • Extent of poverty
  • Population
  • Housing over-crowding
  • Age of housing
  • Growth lag in relationship to other metropolitan areas

Criteria

The City of Carlsbad is eligible to receive funding, on an annual basis from the federal CDBG program to finance projects, which serve the needs of lower income persons. The funds are to be used to develop viable urban communities through the provision of decent housing and a suitable living environment and by expanding economic opportunities for lower income persons.
