2023 PFund Foundation Scholarship for LGBTQ+ Learners

Dated: January 27, 2023

Pfund Foundation Scholarship program awards LGBTQIA individuals for their commitment to leadership within LGBTQIA communities. Scholarships support bold leaders pursuing post-secondary academic programs as well as non-scholastic leadership development opportunities.

Donor Name: PFund Foundation

State: Selected States

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Scholarship

Deadline: 03/17/2023

Size of the Grant: $1,000 to $12,000

Details:

As the regional lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, Two-Spirit and allied grassroots community foundation serving the upper Midwest, PFund Foundation recognizes that dedicated, connected, and supported generations of LGBTQIA leaders are central to the resilience and health of their communities. Their scholars embody both courage and commitment to advancing change.

The leadership development opportunities that the foundation supports are for individuals to develop their leadership skills, maintain their work as a community activist or organizer, or to attend conferences and workshops that will enhance their skills. Examples of programs that they would support applicants attending include, but are not limited explicitly to: Wellstone Action, Creating Change, or the Rockwood Leadership Institute.

At PFund Foundation, they understand that sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sex are often lumped together; albeit not the same. They utilize the acronym LGBTQIA as an umbrella term in order to encompass the multitude of sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions—acknowledging that expressions and identities are ever-evolving. They honor all identities by offering space on this application for you to share what language you use in expressing your authentic self.

For non-academic scholarships, leadership development opportunities can be located anywhere, but the applicants’ work in LGBTQIA communities must be currently based in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin. The scholarship must be used within a year unless it is a multiyear scholarship.

Funding Information

PFund Foundation’s scholarships range from $1,000 to $12,000.
