apexart’s Open Calls are opportunities for artists, curators, and other professionals to turn their curatorial idea into an apexart exhibition, combined with inviting apexart’s international community to collectively determine our programming through an online jury process. Winning proposals become part of apexart’s next exhibition season and receive funding and staff support. apexart is not a granting organization-all exhibitions are part of apexart’s programming.

Eligibility Criteria
While most of the people that apply are curators or artists, many are not. Anyone can apply, and prior curatorial experience or training is not necessary. You need a really good idea, a basic understanding of the role as an exhibition organizer, and at least three artists you are considering including. Curatorial teams/collectives are welcome to apply.
What basic elements should be included in proposal?
You should describe an idea-based exhibition presented for the first time, with artists who work independently of one another. Proposals must be submitted in English, however the jury comes from more than 70 countries and judges on the idea, not the grammar. You cannot exceed the 500-word limit. They do not accept any additional materials, or links in the proposal to create a level playing field with the idea being judged. In addition to the proposal, they ask you to submit the names of three possible artists you might (or might not) include, to confirm that you have given some thought to how you might populate your show if selected. This list of three potential artists will not be shown to the jury, is not included in the 500-word limit and can change if the project is selected.
