This funding may be used for seven categories of expenses identified in the grant application. Any project with an aggregate cost of greater than $8,000 must use the Matching Grant program. Nonprofit Fire and EMS agencies should apply under the Emergency Services & Public Safety Grant program.

- Up to $25,000 in nonprofit grant program funding may be awarded annually per organization.
Eligibility Criteria
Nonprofit organizations that serve some public or mutual benefit as opposed to benefiting only the owners, investors or members of the organization may apply under the nonprofit grant program.
Program Guidelines
- Grant programs must be administered by an eligible nonprofit organization within the state of Alaska.
- Up to $25,000 in nonprofit grant program funding may be awarded annually per organization.
- Nonprofit grants are subject to an application process. Items to be included in the application packet:
- An application form prescribed by the borough
- Copy of the current State of Alaska Nonprofit Corporation Entity Details for the organization
- Copy of the organization’s IRS nonprofit determination letter
- Minutes from the applicant organization public meeting(s) recording board approval of the proposed program or service.
- Grant applications must be received at the borough office or postmarked by the application deadline. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted.
- Grant programs will not be funded retroactively.
- Construction projects, including road construction projects, are excluded from the nonprofit grant program.
- Road maintenance or road improvement grant funding shall not exceed $8,000.
- Grant funding shall be on a reimbursable basis. Direct vendor purchase (DVP) is available under the nonprofit grant program. Grant funds may not be used for food, beverages, vehicle fuel, political advocacy, indirect purchases for gift cards, contractor cards, or other lines of credit.
