USDA: Alabama NRCS Technical Assistance

The NRCS, an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is seeking support from and opportunities to partner with likeminded natural resource conservation partners. The overall intent of this solicitation is to solicit partnerships to help enhance the implementation of key technical services and outreach projects for Fiscal Year 2023.

Details:

The objective of this Notice of Funding is to obtain Technical Services and Projects to enhance Conservation Technical Assistance and Farm Bill Program Delivery across Alabama. Technical services are defined as: Technical expertise, information, training, education, and tools necessary for a producer to be able to successfully implement, operate, and maintain the conservation of natural resources on land active in agricultural, forestry, or related uses.

Technical services provided directly to farmers, ranchers, and other eligible entities include conservation planning, technical consultations, and assistance with the implementation of conservation practices. Technical services also include activities, processes, tools, and agency functions needed to support delivery of technical services, such as technical standards, resource inventories, training, data, technology, monitoring, and effects analyses.

Alabama NRCS is seeking proposals for Conservation Technical Assistance to assist local, area, and state NRCS personnel with forestry and wildlife, agronomic, water quality, and grazing lands related resources concerns and training.

  • Provide technical assistance/expertise to local field office to treat related resource concerns and provide technical assistance to assist field offices with all aspects of the conservation planning process and servicing and implementing financial assistance contracts.
  • Biological and ecological stream monitoring and assessment within a specific location in the PL566 Middle Tennessee Irrigation Project area which could include fish assemblage composition and abundance testing, to assess long term effects of conservation practice implementation, watershed project implementation, and/or irrigation water withdrawals.
  • Provide technical assistance to address grazing land related resource concerns to NRCS conservation planners and technical specialists at the state, area, and local level through NRCS employee trainings and other procedures necessary to address grazing land resource concern training related needs.
  • Technical investigations to identify cultural resources through reconnaissance field surveys, and/or phased field investigations, and/or the evaluation of cultural resources through the application of the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligibility criteria for historic properties, found at 36 CFR Part 63. Provide management summaries and/or reports or letter reports detailing cultural resources investigations to the Alabama NRCS for review and acceptance by NRCS Archaeologists, Cultural Resources Specialists (CRS) or the NRCS Cultural Resources Coordinator (CRC).
