The City of San Antonio Department of Arts & Culture is accepting applications for its Performing Arts Venue Facility Improvement Grant Program to enrich quality of life by leading and investing in San Antonio’s Arts & Culture.

Details:

The goal of funding provided by the City of San Antonio Department of Arts and Culture (DA&C), is to invest in arts and cultural programs that deliver authentic, excellent, and innovative programs that engage audiences in the unique experience of San Antonio.

The Department of Arts & Culture (DA&C) Performing Arts Venue Facility Improvement Program is supported by funding through the City’s ticketing revenues. Nonprofit Performing Arts Producing Organizations that own or hold a long-term lease (minimum 5 years remaining) of their Bexar County venue or have a lease of a city-owned facility can receive support through this Grant. City owned facilities have no minimum lease terms. Support will be contingent upon availability of funds. Occasionally other funding sources are made available to DA&C and at such time additional awards and funding opportunities can be offered.

Facility Improvement Program Grants are limited to agencies that receive operational grant funding from the Department of Arts & Culture and will be limited in use for approved expenses related to improving a Performing Arts Venue Facility within Bexar County or purchase of equipment to improve the quality of productions/guest experience.

Funding Information

  • Organizations will receive up to $10,000 maximum in funding.
  • Contracts will be for a 12-month period beginning October 1st and capital improvements and equipment purchases must be completed within the 12-month period.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Performing Arts Producing Organization must be located within San Antonio city limits and own or hold a long-term over 5 years) lease of the venue.
  • Performing Arts Producing Organization that currently receives operational grant funding from the Department of Arts & Culture under the Core Grants Guidelines
  • Performing arts producing organizations must meet the definition of a Producing Organization
  • Only one application per organization is allowed each grant cycle, and only one application per facility is allowed
  • Have been actively producing performances in the City of San Antonio for a minimum of the last three years
  • Be in good standing with City of San Antonio Contracts and policies, as applicable
  • San Antonio Based with primary business address within Bexar County
  • IRS recognized 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt non-profit
  • In “good status” as a nonprofit corporation and up to date with IRS 990 filings; Non-profit status is current and in good standing with the Texas Secretary of State’s office and IRS 990 is filed for the fiscal year that is two years prior to the current fiscal year
  • Have an active Board of Directors that meets regularly
  • At least half of the agency’s programming for the past 3 years includes performing arts.
