Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission’s Arts Grant Program (Pennsylvania)

Dated: April 20, 2023

The Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission is inviting non-profit organizations and K-12 public and charter schools to submit proposals for its annual arts grants.

Donor Name: Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission

State: Pennsylvania

City: Bethlehem

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 05/12/2023

Size of the Grant: $3,000

Grant Duration: 1 year

Details:

The grants are offered to encourage new works of art, educational programs, exhibits, presentations, performances, and other arts-related activities. This grant program supports the mission of the Fine Arts Commission.

Funding Information

A total of $3,000 is available for awards this year. Although the total could be awarded to one applicant, in recent years it has been divided among two to four applicants. An awardee may be granted all or part of the money for which it applies.

Activity Period

The grants are to support arts related activities that will take place between June 1, 2023 and May 31, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Projects that are to take place or be presented primarily in Bethlehem.
  • Registered 501(c)(3) organizations and K-12 schools.
  • Organizations and schools that are arts-related or that propose a project that is arts-related in fulfillment of their mission.
  • One proposal from an organization or school per funding cycle.
  • Proposals to fund specific arts activities, presentations, events, programs, performances, or works.
  • Proposals to fund capital campaigns, cover annual operating expenses, pay for the purchase of buildings, or reduce the organization’s acquired debt are not eligible.
  • Proposals for a portion of or for all of the stated available funds.
  • Recipients of previous Arts Commission grants are eligible to apply only if they submitted their required final project reports.

Award Criteria

The Grants Committee will review all proposals that are postmarked by the due date and make formal recommendations for awards to the Fine Arts Commission at its regular meeting in the first week of June. In its review of grant proposals, the Committee will use the following criteria:

  • Do the proposed project and applying organization or school meet the criteria for eligibility?
  • Purpose of the project: How well does the proposed project reflect the objectives of the Fine Arts Commission?
  • Information provided: How completely and clearly are the Required Proposal Contents provided?
  • Funding requested: How closely does it match the likely costs to be covered?
  • Fairness: In the case of a rare judging tie, schools and organizations that have never won or won less often will be favored.

Required Proposal Contents

  • The organization’s primary contact person and, if different from the school’s or organization’s, that person’s contact information. Schools will include name of their principal with contact information. Non-school proposals will include the name and contact information of the organization’s board director.

  • The purpose and objective of the project and how they relate to the organization’s or school’s mission.
  • What the project consists of and how it will be carried out, including its timelines (dates and duration).
  • How the organization will acknowledge, wherever practical, the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission’s support in project programs, posters, press releases, and other publicity.
  • A budget for the project, including other sources of revenue for it (as an Attachment).
  • A link to the organization’s or school’s web site and/or other social media presence, if applicable.
