Grants to Eliminate Hunger and Provide Food Security in Massachusetts

The Foundation for MetroWest is accepting applications for its 2023 Hunger Relief Grant Program to address food insecurity as a regional, systemic problem.

Details:

The Foundation for MetroWest recognizes that there is no singular barrier to food access in their region. Their mission is to invest in local organizations that work across the food system to eliminate hunger and provide food security to all MetroWest residents.

This year, the Foundation will be prioritizing organizations that are demonstrating a commitment to one or more of the following:

  • Creating and sustaining models that increase access to food, including but not limited to:
    • mobile or neighborhood-based food programs & markets o food recovery and redistribution initiatives
    • local agriculture efforts (community gardens, land use, CSAs) o gap meal initiatives for youth and families
  • Accepting, increasing access to, or actively connecting clients to SNAP, WIC or HIP benefits
  • Offering client-centered programs that provide food that is locally grown, culturally relevant, nutritious, or diet-sensitive
  • Promoting and fostering collaboration across communities and sectors to benefit and improve the entire food system

Funding Information

The Foundation will be providing general operating grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000.

Eligibility Criteria

The Foundation will consider applications from organizations that:

  • Have 501(c)(3) tax status as a registered nonprofit organization OR have an eligible fiscal sponsor
  • Are based in and/or serve one or more of the following MetroWest cities/towns: Acton, Ashland, Boxborough, Carlisle, Concord, Dedham, Dover, Framingham, Harvard, Holliston, Hopkinton, Hudson, Lexington, Lincoln, Marlborough, Maynard, Medfield, Medway, Milford, Millis, Natick, Needham, Sherborn, Southborough, Stow, Sudbury, Walpole, Waltham, Wayland, Wellesley, Westborough, Weston, Westwood
  • Do not limit service based on individual’s race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, age, or disability.

Please note: Agencies with multiple service sites should submit only one application for all sites.

Ineligible organizations or requests include:

  • City/town agencies
  • Individuals
  • Schools – private, public, pre-K, charter, or Chapter 766
  • Pass-through grants
