USDA/NRCS: Partners for Conservation in New Hampshire

The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is announcing availability of cooperative agreements in New Hampshire for the purpose of leveraging NRCS and partner resources, addressing local natural resource issues, encouraging collaboration, and developing state and community level conservation leadership.

Details:

The purpose of the New Hampshire Partners for Conservation cooperative agreements is to leverage NRCS and partner resources to support New Hampshire NRCS with addressing goals of its strategic plan:

  • Improve soil health.
  • Improve landscape performance in dealing with water quality issues; either excess or inadequate, and downstream impacts.
  • Improve water quality.
  • Improve habitat for local wildlife species of concern.
  • Improve the environmental and economic performance of working agricultural lands.
  • Assist communities and groups to build and strengthen local food projects that provide healthy food and economic opportunities.
  • Support Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry Strategies.
  • Improve forest health.

Priority will be placed on projects that address soil health, climate smart agriculture, water quality and quantity, habitat, and urban/community agriculture, and will be executed through:

  • Building technical capacity of the NRCS to implement Farm Bill Conservation Programs.
  • Building outreach capacity of NRCS to reach new customers.
  • Building technical capacity of NRCS and partner field conservation employees.
  • Building the capacity of local partners to develop and implement effective projects that align within the mission and scope of NRCS.
  • Leveraging non-federal and non-government resources to achieve positive natural resource conservation outcomes.
  • Proposals submitted under this announcement will be reviewed for alignment with executive priorities on climate, equity, and environmental justice. Applicants are encouraged to review Executive Order 13985, Advancing Racial Equity and Support to Underserved Communities, Executive Order 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, and Executive Order 13990, Protecting Public Health and the Environment and Restoring Science to Tackle the Climate Crisis, to learn more about these critical priorities.

Projects may be between one and five years in duration.
