Filmmaking is a celebrated and prominent profession and art, and not to mention one of the most exciting ways to visually educate an audience.

Childnet Film Competition: International would make a fantastic online safety education provision for your next term, and not to mention a unique opportunity for your learners to develop their skills in media, drama, art all while considering how to stay safe online.

Winners will be announced on the Childnet website on Wednesday 19th July 2023.

Award Information

Multiple groups within the same school can submit their own films for their chance to win your school £500 to spend on a spectacular filmmaking prize.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The International category is
    • For young people aged 7-18 who attend schools outside of the UK.
    • Entrants must select to enter, the age group, 7–11 (in the UK, primary school age) or the age group, 11–18, (in the UK, secondary school age). One winning film will be selected from each age group.
    • All film entries must be 2 minutes or under.
    • This time frame must include any credits you wish to add. It is advisable to keep credits to a minimum to avoid losing time for your film content and remember to add first names only!
    • As long as the film has been entered by an educator, we will accept individual entries into the competition.
    • Film groups should be made up of no more than 8 people. (This should include everyone involved in the film, from crew to performers).
    • Schools can enter multiple film entries but one film per film group.
    • All schools outside of the UK are invited to create a two minute film in response to the competition theme of “Time to talk – How can people support each other online?”
    • Films entries must
      • Only feature original or bought music to avoid copyright issues (so, no well-known music tracks)
      • Be positive and have a message which can help other young people.
