Silverthorne Public Art Grant Program (Colorado)

Dated: January 24, 2022

The Town of Silverthorne is seeking applications for its Public Art Grant Program.

Donor Name: Town of Silverthorne

State: Colorado

Town: Silverthorne

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline (mm/dd/yyyy): 02/25/2022

Size of the Grant: $3,000

Details:

To support public art, the Art Board manages the annual Public Art Grant Program which offers supplemental funding to both businesses and artists for projects that provide opportunities for the extended community to come together to share common and diverse histories, traditions, and customs as well as enjoy permanent, temporary, and spontaneous expressions of art and culture.  Project opportunities are broad and can be place-based (indoor and/or outdoor exhibits or enhancements) or program-based (activities or projects that bring people together).

Funding Information

Grants will be awarded in amounts of up to $3,000.

The grant program is available to two types of applicants:

  • Business Applicant: The Art Board will consider applications from Silverthorne Businesses that wish to install permanent or temporary art installations that can be viewed by the public.  This may include the purchase of artwork for display and/or artful enhancements to spaces that create an artful public environment.  Businesses can also request funding to support an interactive public art project that provides a participatory art opportunity for the community.
  • Artist Applicant: The Art Board will also consider applications from artists who wish to install permanent or temporary art installations that can be viewed by the public – either in public spaces or in conjunction with private businesses in spaces that can be viewed by the public.  Artists may propose projects that enhance public spaces through creative design and are not necessarily a straightforward installation of artwork.  Artists can also request funding to support a public art project that provides a participatory art opportunity for the community.

Guidelines

  • Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:
    • Physical art installations (sculptures, murals, 2D art, etc.)
    • Artful design projects that enhance public spaces (architectural enhancements, lighting, site furnishings, etc.)
    • Participatory art projects that involve the community
  • Project location must be within the Town of Silverthorne boundaries.
  • Projects must meet all current town codes.
  • Business applicants must hold a current Town of Silverthorne business license and be in good standing with the town. (Properties with outstanding code violations, delinquent sales taxes, or expired business licenses are not eligible to apply.)
  • Grants are available to property owners or tenant. (If tenant applies, a minimum of two years must be remaining on lease, or an option to renew current lease, and written landowner permission must be provided.)
  • Applicants must receive grant approval prior to beginning art project to be eligible to receive grant funding.
  • Grant funds will be provided with 50% paid to applicant at time of grant award and 50% paid upon completion of the project. Applicant must provide a detailed project budget that demonstrates costs allocated to applicant (at least 10% of total costs) and costs allocated to town. Applicant must provide copies of all paid invoices, including copies of cancelled checks and/or credit card receipts to receive final 50% payment.
  • Grant projects must be completed within six months of approval, or extension must be requested in writing.
  • Projects selected for grant funding may be featured in Town promotional materials.
