The objective of the fund is to provide assistance to the following types of projects:
- Educational opportunities
- Environment
- Human services
- Historical and cultural preservation
The fund encourages co-sponsorship of projects or co-funding (e.g., by corporations, regional foundations and individual and/or organizations local, national or international). Projects that affect children and youth within the outlined areas will be given higher priority. Ongoing program support is a low priority.

- Be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
- Be located in or provide service within Madeline Island, Wisconsin.
