The primary objective of the LaBounty Family Fund, while not limited in this regard, is to provide assistance to projects which promote economic development in the Two Harbors area. Economic development, in order to qualify as a charitable purpose, must benefit the public directly and significantly and any private benefit is only incidental and insubstantial in comparison to the public benefits.
The following are representative, but not exclusive, examples of projects which could be recipients of grants from the LaBounty Family Fund:
- Provision of technical and managerial assistance to businesses;
- Maintenance/improvement of public lands and waters for recreational activities which are open and freely available to the public;
- Erection or maintenance of public buildings, monuments, or works;
- Business seed programs;
- Projects which lessen the burdens of government;
- Relief of the poor and distressed or of the underprivileged;
- Projects to reduce juvenile delinquency;
- Projects to help low-income people find emergency, temporary, and permanent housing;
- Promotion of social welfare by organizations designed to accomplish the above-listed activities.

Grants from LaBounty Family Fund generally range from $1,000 to $15,000.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible to apply for funding from the LaBounty Family Fund, an organization must:
- be classified as a charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or classified as an organization under Section 170(c)(1) of the Internal Revenue Code; and
- be located in or provide services to residents of the Two Harbors Area Fund primary service area. This primary service area is defined as the Two Harbors High School District. Grants to promote economic development may be awarded without regard to geographic area if they are determined to have a beneficial economic impact on the Two Harbors area.
