Applications are now open for the Mais Imaginarius Program to give space to emerging artists willing to show their work.

Details:

The competition opens the challenge for artists to present proposals that address the public space in its most diverse perceptions, testing formats and models, towards the construction of plural identities. In a dialogue between contemporary artistic creation and public space, it seeks experimentation, exploring new connections between different languages and cultural/natural heritage.

In this edition, Mais Imaginarius will select up to 20 projects, which will be in competition, presenting themselves during the festival, between May 24th and 26th, 2024

Purpose

  • Artists and companies applying to Mais Imaginarius 2024 must be available for performances between May 24th and 26th, during the time period of the festival; Applications Theater; Dance; Music; Circus; Performance; Intervention; Installation; New Media; graffiti; Magic and Multidisciplinary.
  • Proposals accepted for presentation at Mais Imaginarius 2024 will be candidates for a final prize, awarded to the winner.

Benefits

  • 600 Euros – For artists and companies from Portugal;
  • 1000 Euros – For artists and companies from the rest of Europe;
  • 1400 Euros – For artists and companies from outside the Europe;
  • The final prize consists of a creation in residence to premiere in the 2025 edition of Imaginarius – International Festival of Street Theater of Santa Maria da Feira and the financial value of 5000€.

Participants

  • Applications for creative projects by national and international artists and companies are accepted;
  • Artists and companies applying to Mais Imaginarius 2024 must be available to present their projects from May 24 to 26, 2024, during the festival’s opening hours;
  • Each selected performative project must be presented to the public between 4 and 6 times during the festival period, tending to be two daytime performances and two evening performances, [the final number will be adjusted with the artist, depending on the characteristics of the project];
  • The previous point will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for urban intervention and installation projects;
  • The artists will be responsible for presenting the candidate show and all scenic resources and artistic elements essential for its realization.
