The District receives and reviews funding for projects, programs and items which improve the quality of life, community image, health and safety, and general welfare of residents, employers, and consumers within East Montgomery County.
Funding Information
- Grants are available for up to $5,000.
- EMCID has the sole discretion in the award of each grant. EMCID will give higher priority to applications for projects which will best advance EMCID’s purposes and goals.
- Applicants are encouraged to match or supplement the amount of funds requested for the project. EMCID will give higher priority to those applications in which the applicant is providing funds to pay for a portion of the project that is the subject of the grant application.
- Projects and/or the beneficiaries of projects to be funded by grants must be located and/or reside or serve persons residing within the boundaries of EMCID.
- EMCID will generally consider applications for projects with “one-time” or “lump sum” costs. No grant will be approved for projects which require multiple payments or the funding of servicing costs incurred over time unless all costs associated with a project funded by a grant which exceeds the initial amount approved will be funded by the applicant. Evidence of the applicant’s source of funds for such ongoing funding must be submitted with the application.
- Projects which in the good faith judgment of the EMCID Board of Directors supplant or take the place of services or facilities with are or should be provided by Montgomery County or any other governmental agency or political subdivision within EMCID will not be accepted.
Requirements
The following is a list of requirements for applicants and applications.
- Applicant is ineligible for grants if it is not in compliance with or has failed to meet any requirement of any previously funded community grant or with the terms of or requirements in any grant agreements entered into in connection with such previous grant.
- Applicant may submit no more than one application per grant cycle (September/March).
- Applicant must have a representative attend the following meetings:
- EMCID Board Grant Workshop (typically April/October) – the representative must present the applicant’s grant application and be prepared to answer questions from the Board of Directors; and
- EMCID Grant Award Board Meeting (typically May/November) – the representative must attend the Board of Directors meeting at which the Board votes to approve or reject the grant application and be prepared to answer questions from the Board.
