Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 09/30/2023

Priorities for Funding

The North Carolina Arts Council, in partnership with the local arts council network, suggests the following priorities when investing Grassroots funds in the coming years:

  • Building sustainability of the arts ecosystem within each county (beyond projects, investing in operations and staff).
  • Developing new relationships with arts organizations that have not been previously engaged.
  • Investing in capacity building for arts organizations (shared trainings, specific capacity building tailored for individual organizations, strategic planning, board training, etc.).

The priorities of the grassroots subgrants program are:

  • To provide operating or program support to qualified arts organizations including theaters, symphonies, galleries, art guilds, choral societies, dance companies, folk arts societies, writers’ groups and arts festivals, among others
  • To support arts learning and arts in education programs conducted by qualified artists.
