The City of Alexandria’s Office of The Arts promotes the value of arts and culture in Alexandria by nurturing, investing in and celebrating the creative contributions of artists and arts organizations. Through engaging the community, encouraging participation, and facilitating access to the arts, the Office of the Arts works with local artists and arts organizations to build a vibrant community for all City’s residents, workers, and visitors.
The purpose of the Arts Program Sustainability Grant is to support and sustain the local arts economy in the City of Alexandria by providing support to local arts organizations whose programming and/or operations that have been impacted by COVID-19 and provide support to arts and culture organizations to focus on their missions and engage with their audiences.
Funding Information
Grants will be awarded based on the program budget. Award amounts are set and will not be reduced or adjusted.
Eligible requested amounts:
- Program Budget Over $25,000 Grant Award = $10,000
- Program Budget $15,000-$24,999 Grant Award = $ 7,500
- Program Budget Under $15,000 Grant Award = $ 5,000
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Arts Program sustainability Grant, arts and culture organizations are required to:
- be based in the city limits of Alexandria, VA;
- be a non-profit organization (please note that fiscal agents and pass through funding will not be permitted);
- have as a core mission the creation, exhibition, presentation, production, or performance of and/or education in an art discipline;
- arts programs that are not already funded by the City;
- have had public programs in the past; and
- is in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
Employees of the City of Alexandria and Alexandria Commission for the Arts’ members and their immediate family members are not eligible to apply.
