The BID Development Grant program was created by the NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to identify and develop proposals for the formation of Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) in areas where they would benefit local stakeholders. Through proactive planning and targeted investments, the BID Formation Grant support established steering committees to complete the BID Formation Process.
Funding Information
Up to $100,000 per year per neighborhood will be awarded to grantees for the staffing, planning, and implementation of a BID formation proposal.
Uses of funds
BID Formation grant funding can be used for the following activities in the BID planning, outreach, and legislative phases:
- Steering Committee Coordination
- Database Management
- Formula development & Mock assessment run
- Development of Statements of Support
- Management of Outreach phase
- Mailings, presentations, and development of public testimony
- Demonstration projects to communicate the value of the BID.
Eligibility Criteria
- Nonprofit community-based development organizations operating within the five boroughs of New York City that are currently coordinating, hosting, or serving as the fiscal conduit for a formal BID Formation Steering Committee
- Nonprofit organizations incorporated in New York State;
- Organizations compliant with annual State and Federal filing requirements.
