Strategy I Priorities
- Encourage Maine land trusts and watersheds to develop equitable organizations, inclusive programs, and easy access to the outdoors.
- Eliminate barriers to accessing the outdoors and nature that underserved groups currently face.
- Support catalytic statewide or regional networks, initiatives, and infrastructure resources to strengthen and connect the outdoor access sector.

- General Operating Grants
- General operating grants offer unrestricted funds for your organization. If all of your organization’s activities align with multiple Environment Program strategies, you may request general operating support.
- Project Support Grants
- Project support grants offer funding for specific activities or programs. If your organization’s work extends beyond the grantmaking strategies, you should request project support. All fiscally sponsored grants are project grants.
Funding Information
- Grants for this priority range from $5,000 to $30,000 per 12-month period.
- Organizations may apply for up to two years of funding.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for and receive a grant, your organization must be a 501 (c)3 public charity as designated by the IRS, operate under a fiscal sponsor that is a qualified 501 (c)3 public charity, or be a Maine governmental unit.
