Eligible Expenses
The Festival Fund program will award funding only to support festival-specific expenses. All expenses should be related to completing a specific festival project, including:
- Artist fees for performing, teaching, or providing services
- Marketing/publicity costs
- Direct administrative expenses related to the proposed project
- Expendable, project-related supplies and materials
- Project-related travel expenses (no out-of-state travel)
- Project-related rental of space and equipment
- Project-related technical fees.
Eligibility Criteria
- Have proof of non-profit status;
- Have a permanent address in Onondaga County;
- Will produce an annual, seasonal, or otherwise regular arts and cultural festival* in 2025 with a budget of $100,000 or below.
- Eligible events will be centered on a specific theme, held in public spaces, free or low-cost for the public to attend, and will provide programming of high artistic and cultural merit. Examples may include cultural festivals (i.e., Lunar New Year); music festivals, harvest fairs, holiday strolls, or food festivals that celebrate a neighborhood or type of food with cultural, historical, or regional significance. They may also include Open Studios, craft fairs, film festivals, or book and literary festivals. All of these must incorporate the arts, culture, history, or heritage in order to be eligible.
Ineligible Applicants
- Education institutions, schools, or educational foundations;
- Radio or television broadcasting networks or stations;
- Cable communications systems, newspapers, or magazines;
- Organizations engaged solely in the acquisition or restoration of physical property;
- Applicants with outstanding final reports from prior year CNY Arts grants.
