To the extent determined appropriate, SPST grant funds may also be used to train individuals responsible for responding to accidents and incidents involving hazardous material.
Funding Information
This NOFO is subject to the availability of funds. PHMSA anticipates $2,000,000 will be made available to support the FY 2025 SPST grant program. The expected amounts of individual federal awards for organizations range from $500,000 to $1,000,000.
Period of Performance
The period of performance is a minimum of 12 months from the effective date of the award. An applicant may request a period of performance up to 24 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- The FY 2025 SPST grant program is open to national nonprofit fire service organizations to train instructors to conduct HAZMAT response training programs for individuals with statutory responsibility to respond to HAZMAT accidents and incidents; and to train individuals with the responsibility to respond to accidents and incidents involving hazardous material.
- For the purposes of the SPST grants program, a nonprofit organization is a business that has been granted tax-exempt status by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) because it furthers a social cause and provides a public benefit.
