The grant can be used to create new or existing work, enhance artistic skills and abilities, participate in opportunities that will benefit the artist’s career or improve their ability to share their work with the public. This grant helps individual artists who are new to the grant making process AND who have not received a grant from the Maine Arts Commission before.

Eligibility Criteria
An applicant who meets these criteria may apply:
- Has not received a grant from the Maine Arts Commission before.
- Is an individual practicing artist.
- Is a new, developing or change of career artist.
- Is a current Maine resident.
- Is 18 years of age or older by the application deadline.
