Jerome Hill Artist Fellowships support early career Minnesota- and New York City-based generative artists who take creative risks in exploring, expanding, imagining, or re-imagining creative practices and experiences; reclaiming or reviving traditional forms in original ways; and/or questioning, challenging, or disrupting cultural norms.
Artists apply to be reviewed by a panel in one of seven artistic fields:
- Dance
- Music
- Film, Video and Digital Production
- Theater/Performance/Spoken Word(animation, documentary,
- Technology Centered Arts experimental, and narrative)
- Visual Arts
- Literature (creative non-fiction, fiction, poetry)
Funding Information
Fellows receive $60,000 over three consecutive years ($20,000 each year).
Eligibility Criteria
Artists may only submit one application, either the individual application or the collaborative application, but not both
- Applications must be submitted by the applicant artist(s) and may not be submitted by an organization or other entity(such as a nonprofit, a producer, an agent, a multi-owner LLC or a management company, among others) on the applicant’s behalf.
- Fellowships are awards to artists, not to organizations.
Eligible artists are:
- Residents of either the state of Minnesota or the 5 boroughs of New York City who have been residents for at least one year at the time of application
- Generative artists who are currently creating new original work.
- Early career artists with at least 2 years but not more than 10 years of professional generative artistic practice in any field.
