The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) is committed to supporting the growth of this discipline. GaDOE will be providing resources to support systems along this journey and will work toward eliminating barriers to Computer Science education in Georgia. The goal is for all students to have both access and opportunity to engage in CS experiences.
Systems with a comprehensive CS plan and an identified teacher(s) for training will be given priority. Priority will also be given to systems serving highly impoverished and/or rural communities. Only one competitive grant will be awarded per system, but districts and/or schools may pool their grant funds for a more comprehensive approach to building teacher capacity.
Funding Information
Each grant shall not exceed $25,000.
Grant Period
The grant period of performance will begin November 2023 and will end October 2024; however, all funds must be invoiced by June 28, 2024.
Uses of funds
Each grant shall include funding for building instructional capacity, equipment, and curriculum. However, 85% of awarded funds must be spent on professional development of teachers for Computer Science instruction.

Entities eligible to apply for this grant include:
- Local Education Agencies (LEAs)
- A consortia of LEAs
- Local charter schools
- State charter schools
- Partnerships between an LEA and a high-quality professional learning provider.
