The DeHaan Artist of Distinction Award is for contemporary visual artists who want to take risks. The finished projects are also featured at a special exhibition at Gallery 924 at the Indy Arts Council. The program is open to artists who are based in Indiana.
In 2017, the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation and the Indy Arts Council launched the program in 2017 to allow artists to explore, take risks and push their creative practice in dynamic new ways.
Eligible Applicants
- Work in the visual arts (drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textiles, digital media, etc.)
- Have lived and/or worked in Indiana for at least 3 consecutive years at the date of the application.
- Have 5 years of documented experience creating contemporary art.
- Have generated consistent income over the past five years through work in visual art.
