The purpose of Conservation Collaboration Agreements is to leverage NRCS and Partner resources to assist historically underserved (HU) farmers and ranchers and assist farmers and ranchers to improve, restore, or maintain natural resources that:
- Increase the adoption of soil health principles and practices.
- Improve water quality in source water protection areas, as defined by the Kansas NRCS.
- Increase the awareness and adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry (CSAF) practices.
- Increase the outreach to non-traditional, tribal, and underserved communities and individuals.
- Increase/improve wildlife habitat for species of concern.
- Improve forage balance and grazing distribution on rangeland.
- Provide capacity for direct technical assistance to address environmental concerns for effective conservation delivery.
Emphasis will be placed on projects that:
- Build technical capacity to implement Farm Bill Conservation Programs.
- Provide increased access to Climate Smart Agriculture and Forestry (CSAF) information and assistance.
- Measure value of soil health practices and principles.
- Improve and increase natural resource conservation in urban areas and along the rural/urban interface.
- Demonstrate innovation and efficiency in conservation planning and follow-up.
- Offer opportunities to reach and impact socially disadvantaged, HU, tribal, and/or non-traditional customers.
- Improve areawide planning frameworks and measure efficiency and return on investment of conservation efforts.
- Follow science-based data that balances economic return with environmental benefits.
