Purpose
This program awards state grants to libraries operated by governmental units as defined in RCW 27.12.010to defray up to 50 percent of eligible capital costs to acquire, construct, or rehabilitate libraries.
Priorities
Priority is given to library facilities listed on local, state, or federal registers of historic places and those located in distressed or rural areas.
Funding Information
- The maximum Grant request per project is $2,000,000.00. More than one project is eligible per applicant as long as it is for separate facilities.
- Requires a 50% match of the total cost of the project.
Eligible Projects
A proposed project must:
- Be a library facility operated by governmental units as defined in RCW 27.12.010.
- Consist of acquisition, construction, or rehabilitation.
- More than one project is eligible per applicant as long as it is for separate facilities.
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must agree to the following eligibility standards at the time the application is submitted:
- Agree to enter the LEED certification process on construction or renovation projects 5000 sq.ft.or over.
- Agree to pay state prevailing wages as of the date the budget becomes effective;
- Start the acquisition process or have control of the project site via ownership or executed long-term lease (10 years).
