In recognition of the essential role played by the nonprofit sector in the pandemic response, Taos County is partnering with Taos Community Foundation in hosting the ARPA Funding Opportunity. The intent with this funding is to move past stop-gap funding, with a focus on moving forward into stronger community response efforts. Application content must address or provide services within Taos County, related to one of the following – Community Health and Wellbeing or Economic Resilience.

Funding Categories  

There are two funding categories for this application:

  • Non- Profit Impact Funding: Organizations working to address specific community needs exacerbated by the impacts of COVID-19 are invited to apply for this funding opportunity.
  • Single organizations whose mission does not relate directly to Community Health and Wellbeing or Economic Resilience are eligible to apply. The application must demonstrate how the proposal provides services that addresses one of the following categories:
    • Community Health and Wellbeing- examples could include, but are not limited to….
      • COVID mitigation and/or prevention
      • Behavioral Health Care
      • Public Health workforce support
      • Violence prevention and or response
      • Access to medical care
    • Economic Resilience – examples could include, but are not limited to….
      • Support of the Food and Agricultural Sector
      • Housing support
      • Access to Community Services
      • Education: Early Childhood, Summer and Afterschool Programming, Adult Education and Parent Supports
    • Awards for the Non- Profit Impact Funding must not exceed $100,000.
    • Please note that the Non-Profit Impact award may not exceed 50% of applicant annual operating budget.
  • Systems Change Impact Funding: Support for an existing or new project addressing one or more systemic level issues facing their local community. Single organizations or collaborations may apply for this opportunity. If there are multiple organizations involved in a Systems Change Impact application – there will be one lead applicant. This could be a 501 (c)3 organization or a Fiscally Sponsored entity.
  • Applicants for the Systems Change Impact Funding Opportunity must address one of the following funding priorities in their project:
    • Community Health and Wellbeing- examples could include, but are not limited to….
      • COVID mitigation and/or prevention
      • Behavioral Health Care
      • Public Health workforce support
      • Violence prevention and or response
      • Access to medical care
    • Economic Resilience – examples could include, but are not limited to….
      • Support of the Food and Agricultural Sector
      • Housing support
      • Access to Community Services
      • Education: Early Childhood, Summer and Afterschool Programming, Adult Education and Parent Supports
      • Awards for the Systems Change Impact Funding may not exceed $250,000.

Funding Information

  • Non- Profit Impact Funding: Awards for the Non- Profit Impact Funding must not exceed $100,000.
  • Systems Change Impact Funding: Awards for the Systems Change Impact Funding may not exceed $250,000.
  • Funds awarded must be expended within 12 months of award.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applications will be considered from one of the following:
    • Qualified 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization in good standing, current with all State and Federal reporting requirements: In Good Standing with the IRS, NM Secretary of State, and NM Attorney General.
    • Fiscally sponsored projects (The Fiscal Sponsor organization must be a 501(c) 3 in good standing and eligible to apply)
    • Faith based organizations providing social services to the broader community
    • Tribal organizations.
