The focus of the BID Formation Grant is to provide resources to existing formalized steering committees as they work to demonstrate the value of and deliver a successful BID proposal from planning through legislation. BID Formation Grant proposals should demonstrate the success of efforts to date to organize and deliver on critical BID Formation deliverables and propose projects that will further support the Steering Committee in planning and securing broad based support for the BID proposal. In addition to the supporting the work of the BID Formation Steering Committee, BID Formation Grant proposals may also provide commercial revitalization services to demonstrate the impact and value of BID programs in the community and provide additional opportunities for community outreach and building broad based support. BID Formation grantees should seek to secure necessary support and begin legislation at the conclusion of funding.
Funding Information
Up to $100,000 per year per neighborhood will be awarded to grantees for the staffing, planning, and implementation of a BID formation proposal.
Eligibility Criteria
Place-based CBDOs (Chambers of Commerce, local development corporations, merchants associations, and other organizations), operating within the five boroughs of New York City that are:
- Nonprofit CBDOs operating within the five boroughs of New York City that are currently coordinating, or serving as the fiscal conduit for a formal BID Formation Steering Committee
- Nonprofit organizations incorporated in New York State Organizations compliant with annual State and Federal filing requirements
