Call for Applications: Supporting Improved Efficiency and Effectiveness in Existing Safety Net Dental Homes in North Carolina

Dated: December 14, 2022

The Blue Cross NC Foundation is issuing a funding opportunity for 18-month grants up to $150,000 for projects that will increase clinic efficiencies, effectiveness, and contribute to more equitable access to, and usage of, oral health services.

Donor Name: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation

State: North Carolina

County: All Counties

Type of Grant: Grant

Deadline: 12/16/2022

Size of the Grant: Up to $150,000

Grant Duration: 18 months

Details:

This opportunity, Oral Health Infrastructure and New Approaches, is geared toward supporting clinics in implementing new strategies that create in-office efficiencies, increase access for certain population groups or procedures, and generally increase capacity and paths to care for patients who otherwise would not receive it. The opportunity also supports preserving access to care for these populations by funding critical infrastructure requests. A strong analysis of equity, a focus on increasing access/uptake of care in a specific population, focus on rural counties, and a description of sustainability are highly preferred for this opportunity.

This funding is designed to provide support for smaller capital expenditures that can create efficiencies and the implementation of approaches that are new to a clinic – particularly those explicitly focused on increasing equity in access and uptake of dental services in existing dental homes.

The Foundation will prioritize funding for clinics that:

  • Have assessed the gaps related to efficiency, access, and uptake for inequities related to race, ethnicity, language, age, and/or differing life stages and health care needs (i.e., pregnancy, diabetes) when compared to the demographics of their surrounding geography and present a plan to address them in their proposed project.
  • Operate in rural North Carolina counties.
  • For applicants proposing a new approach, provide a basic description on how the initiative could be sustained beyond this funding opportunity.

Funding Information

As part of an overall commitment to support projects that will increase clinic efficiencies, effectiveness, and contribute to more equitable access to, and usage of, oral health services, the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation is issuing a funding opportunity for 18-month grants up to $150,000. Funded projects will accomplish this by replacing critical equipment and/or integrating new approaches to oral health care delivery.
