The mission statement for the program is simple: “to enhance the qualify of life in Pleasanton”. The grant program provides funding for a wide variety of human services, community development, and housing projects and programs for individuals and families living in Pleasanton and in the Tri-Valley. Most of the grants are focused on activities that benefit lower income residents.
In the upcoming fiscal year (2023-2024), Pleasanton is estimating to provide over $475,000 to projects and programs including: medical visits and health care access for the uninsured; child abuse prevention services; meals and supportive services for seniors; mental health care; substance abuse counseling; domestic violence and homeless shelters; rental assistance for job training participants; fair housing counseling and tenant-landlord services; housing rehabilitation for low income homeowners; and many more.
Grant Period
Funding will begin on July 1, 2023, and end on June 30, 2024.
Eligibility Criteria
Non-profit, community-based organizations interested in applying for HHSG program funds must submit their project or program application(s).
Requirements
- At least 75% of the applicant program’s clients must have a household income of less than 80% of area median income. Priority funding will be provided to those programs that serve the largest number of low-income persons. Eligible projects funded through this program will be limited to those that will accomplish the priorities identified in the City of Pleasanton’s Five Year Consolidated Plan, including the following:
- Support and develop a continuum of housing resources that will increase access to low-income, seniors, and disabled persons;
- Provide assistance to all persons or households who are on the verge of becoming homeless and those who are currently experiencing homelessness;
- Support initiatives that increase a low income individual’s ability to increase their household income;
- Improve community health and access to basic and specialty care including dental and optometric care, substance abuse, behavioral and mental health care services for low-income, uninsured and under-insured residents; and,
- Support a wide range of services that increase or maintain stability for limited English speaking persons, youth, disabled, seniors, at risk persons or households, and other underserved populations. This will include increasing outreach and access to these services.
- Additionally, at a minimum, funded projects must meet one of the following three objectives:
- Creating a Suitable Living Environment
- Providing Decent Affordable Housing
- Creating Economic Opportunities.
