DOJ/NIC: Re-Thinking Evidence-Based Practice Publications

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is seeking applications for funding under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 to develop content and multimedia resources for a microsite focused on the use of evidence-based practices in community corrections.

The initial work focused on developing a content restructuring plan to guide future content development, resource selection, organization, and delivery with the goal of making the EBP content more accessible, approachable, and actionable.

Goals

The goal of the proposed project is to develop content for the NIC EBP microsite according to the NIC content restructuring plan.

Objectives

  • Participate in a scheduled virtual planning meeting with the NIC project manager to clarify project goals, objectives, and deliverables, including discussing a timeline of activities and role clarification within 30 days of the award.
  • Review the content restructuring plan and develop a process for identifying new microsite content.
  • Establish a workgroup consisting of practitioners, researchers, and other subject matter experts who will help inform microsite content development.
  • Establish a process for the workgroup, multimedia subject matter experts, and writing experts to work together to develop multimedia resources from the developed content. These resources may include but are not limited to videos, podcasts, infographics, and other educational and training materials.
  • Submit final drafts of the resources and materials developed that meet the federal government’s requirements for plain language and Section 508 accessibility

Eligibility Criteria

  • NIC invites applications from nonprofit organizations (including faith-based, community, and tribal organizations), for-profit organizations (including tribal for-profit organizations), and institutions of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education). Recipients, including for-profit organizations, must agree to waive any profit or fee for services. Foreign governments, international organizations, and non-governmental international organizations/institutions are not eligible to apply. Proof of 501(c) (3) status as determined by the Internal Revenue Service or an authorizing tribal resolution is required.
  • NIC welcomes applications that involve two or more entities; however, one eligible entity must be the applicant and the others must be proposed as subrecipients. The applicant must be the entity with primary responsibility for administering the funding and managing the entire program. Only one (1) application will be accepted from a submitting organization.
  • NIC may elect to make awards for applications submitted under this solicitation in future fiscal years, dependent on the merit of the applications and on the availability of appropriations.
