The purpose of this funding is to ensure that children and families have access to a continuum of comprehensive, high-quality early childhood programs and services that promote child wellbeing and school readiness and ensure that all children are healthy, ready to learn and have safe passage through the early years. DC Health promotes both home visiting and place-based programs as a primary strategy in achieving these goals.
Funding Information
Funding is anticipated to be available using FY23 Budget Support Act of 2022, local funding.
The total funding amount of $460,000 is anticipated for two (2) awards for the first budget period.
- Option 1: Home visiting funding amount $150,000
- Option 2: Place-based funding amount $310,000
Project Period
The anticipated performance and funding period is February 1, 2023 – September 30, 2027. The first nine-month budget period of February 1, 2023 – September 30, 2023 may be followed by up to four 12-month continuation years. The number of awards, budget periods, and award amounts are contingent upon the continued availability of funds and the recipients’ performance.

The following are eligible organizations/entities who can apply for grant funds under this RFA:
- Non-profit organizations
- Private organizations
- Public organizations
- Faith-based organizations
Organizations considered for funding must meet the above eligibility criteria and have documentation of providing services (health and social services) for the early childhood population and/or their families in the District of Columbia.
