They believe in supporting community in the development and implementation of innovative solutions to food insecurity as leaders and experts in understanding the impact and complexity of conditions youth, families, and communities experience and not simply as recipients of information and resources.
They believe they can improve the lives of residents in Baltimore by working together and focusing on food security and food sovereignty within and in partnership with communities. This includes offering a wide variety of valuable community-based programs throughout the city.
This investment will:
- Support community in the development and implementation of innovative solutions as leaders and experts in understanding the impact and complexity of conditions children and families experience and not simply as recipients of information and resources.
- invest in programs with innovative approaches to ending child and youth food insecurity in Baltimore
Priority Areas & Program Requirments
Priority Areas for this Grant Include:
- Programs that provide and support innovative solutions to food insecurity in Baltimore City youth
- Programs that serve in Sandtown-Winchester/Harlem Park Madison/East End, Penn-North/Reservoir, Greenmount East, Southwest Baltimore, and Greater Govans
Program Requirements for this Grant Include:
All funded partners must:
- Begin programming immediately after contract execution but no later than December 1, 2021. Adjustments to start dates must be approved by Family League at least two (2) weeks before the required start date;
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for participants including but not limited to maintaining recordkeeping, as applicable;
- Incorporate community voice in programming;
- Attend all Family League-required meetings including, but not limited to, orientation and professional development;
- Submit data and reports by required deadlines in Family League-designated tool;
- Participate in scheduled site visits conducted by Family League staff; and
- Administer surveys to participants (with proper permissions as applicable)
Applicant Eligibility
With this RFA, Family League and Share their Strength seek to support innovative approaches to the food insecurity of Baltimore communities. To apply, interested individuals or organizations must:
- Provide a copy of the organization’s Form 990 or independently audited financial statements within the past 12 months;
- Provide evidence of organizational capacity to implement an innovative solution as outlined in the RFA;
- Possess a demonstrated capacity to collect, manage, and utilize participant-level and programmatic data; AND
- Provide a clear and concise operating budget.
