Public Resource Code Section 42889(b)(5) authorizes CalRecycle to expend funds from the California Tire Recycling Management Fund to pay for the cost of cleanup, abatement, or other remedial actions related to the disposal of California waste tires.

Eligible Projects
Local Government Waste Tire Cleanup Grant Program projects include the collection, removal, transportation, recycling, and disposal of California waste tires from illegal tire piles and areas where illegal dumping has occurred along public rights-of-way. Sites can be located on private or public property.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants
- Local governments (cities, counties, or cities and counties) as defined in PRC section 48617.
- Special districts.
- Qualifying Tribal Entities.
- Joint Powers Authorities (JPA) as an eligible entity (where all of the participating entities are otherwise eligible).
