Details:

The purpose of these conservation agreements is to address the following objectives in all areas of California, as applicable.

Consideration will be given to collaborative efforts that address needs within geographical watersheds, groundwater basins, air basins, or other conservation-focused boundaries. As supported by the CA NRCS Strategic Plan, tiered from the Chief’s priorities the following topic areas will be considered for funding through a cooperative agreement. The agreement should focus on one or more of the following objectives:

  • Address climate resiliency and drought
  • Improve plant and forest health and productivity – consideration is given to fire risk mitigation
  • Improve air quality
  • Improve surface and groundwater quality
  • Improve surface and groundwater quantity
  • Improve soil health/soil quality
  • Improve wildlife habitat of terrestrial and/or aquatic wildlife species
  • Provide educational opportunities for tribes and historically underserved farmers, ranchers, and non-industrial forestland users, including urban farmers with education and conservation planning.
  • Collect and produce scientifically credible information through assessments of soil, water, and related resources from Core Land Segments identified by the National Resource Inventory (NRI) program.

Funding Information

  • The estimated funding floor for this opportunity is $25,000 and the estimated funding ceiling is $75,000.

Period of Performance

  • Projects may be between one and five years in duration.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for this opportunity is limited to the following entity types:

  • City or township governments
  • County governments
  • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
  • Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS (other than institutions of higher education)
  • Private institutions of higher education
  • Public and State-controlled institutions of higher education
  • Special district governments
  • State governments
