The goal is to increase recycling feedstock value, increase end-market capacity, divert recyclable materials from disposal, and create jobs in Minnesota.
The grant money must help Minnesota businesses to use recyclable material in their products, thereby increasing local demand for recyclable material. Processing recyclable material into a higher value to use in making a product is also available for grant money.

- Total funds: Approximately $800,000
- Awards: Maximum $300,000; minimum $75,000
- Match requirement: Applicants must provide at least a 20% match of the grant award. (An applicant asking for $100,000 in grant money must provide at least $20,000 in cash and/or in-kind match.)
Eligible Project
Projects using any type of recyclable material will be considered. Priority projects include uses of:
- Paper: mixed paper, news, old corrugated cardboard (OCC), and sorted office
- Glass: includes commercial and residential glass, windshield glass, and window/door glass
- Plastic: polyethylene terephthalate (PET), high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP),
- Plastic film: includes retail bag film, pallet wrap film, ag plastic, and boat wrap
- Textiles
- Finished compost is derived from source-separated organics, but excludes the collection or processing of organic material.
