Their efforts to facilitate community health improvement are centered on our community benefit service area of Southeast Baltimore County. This region was selected based on hospital utilization information, public health data, and our collaboration with the Baltimore County Southeast Area Network.
Priority Need Areas
MedStar Franklin Square has committed $1 million over a five year period to assist with impacting these need areas, with FY23 in the fourth year of this commitment. The Children’s Community Health Task Force continues to determine the most appropriate method for using funds either via funding/expanding existing MedStar programs, partnering with other existing community resources and organizations, and/or developing new programs or resources to impact these need areas. The Children’s Community Health Task Force identified the priority needs as:
- Behavioural Health/Mental Health/Substance Abuse
- Support families in parenting with education
- Access to resources, school-based counseling
- Obesity/Nutrition/Physical Activity
- Asthma
- Self-management in schools
Funding Information
Based on the scope of the project, a grant or grants up to $200,000 will be awarded.
Grant Period
The term of any agreement that may result from this solicitation shall be for twelve (12) months beginning July 1, 2022 and ending on June 30, 2023.
Propose to Implement an Evidence-Based Program
Applicants are encouraged to review national best practices and evidence-based, proven, and promising program examples in selecting a strategy for implementation. Applicants should also provide details on how they will maintain fidelity to the proposed evidence-based, promising, or proven program.
Projects should target children and families in southeast Baltimore County and/or Harford County with evidence-based services to meet the identified priority needs.
Neither capital (building, brick and mortar) projects nor deficit funding will be considered.
Ineligible Applicants
Ineligible applicants include:
- Organizations/programs which do not serve southeast Baltimore County or southwest Harford County
- For-profit companies/organizations
- Other hospitals
